Can you provide an update on the status of the downtown Sac Republic stadium --has it broken ground yet? And can you confirm that Sac Rep ownership already has the USL Super League option in hand (but may expire after a certain number of years)?
Stadium has not yet broken ground, there is a city council vote on June 10th to approve the financing plan for the stadium after which they will break ground in the later half of this year.
To my knowledge there is no agreement for a USL Super League team nor an NWSL team, option is not in hand at this moment. Previously Sacramento was to receive an NWSL team with the Ron Burkle ownership but when that deal broke down that team was ultimately moved to San Diego and is now the Wave. This article simply explores the fact that the city is ready to support the womens game.
