Sacramento, MLS, and Beyond - A Conversation with Todd Dunivant
Daniel Tyree sits down with Todd Dunivant to discuss his time with the Republic and the road forward.
An Interviewer’s Perspective — Daniel Tyree
I met Todd Dunivant shortly after he was named Sacramento Republic’s Technical Director. During that small meeting, held in the little conference room above the original Republic headquarters, I found Dunivant to be candid, curious, and forthcoming with his thoughts. It was no surprise when he agreed to an extended interview with Quail City Soccer that we saw the same thoughtful and open person I had met eight years earlier.
During the course of a wide-ranging interview that covered his upbringing in Colorado to his future as the newly named Technical Director of MLS side New York City FC, we touched on topics ranging from the highlights and heartbreaks of his tenure with the Republic to what he sees in the future for the club. Dunivant shared his thoughts on his role in getting shovels in the ground for the future home of the Republic in the Sacramento Railyards, as well as whether MLS could ever come to Sacramento.
Quail City Soccer would like to thank Sacramento Republic FC for facilitating this interview, and Dunivant for making himself accessible during what was an incredibly busy time following the announcement that he would be leaving Sacramento for NYCFC. We wish him success in his future endeavors and appreciate his role in solidifying the Republic as one of the premier USL Championship franchises.
