Quail City Soccer is an independent publication dedicated to covering Sacramento Republic FC and the broader landscape of the USL Championship.We provide match previews, recaps, tactical analysis, opinion pieces, and big-picture coverage of soccer culture in Sacramento and beyond.Our goal is simple: to deliver thoughtful, independent reporting that reflects the passion of Republic FC supporters while contributing to the larger story of soccer’s growth in the United States.

We provide in-depth coverage of Sacramento Republic FC, alongside news and analysis from across the USL Championship. We also follow the USL Cup and U.S. Open Cup, bringing you the stories that shape each tournament, while exploring the supporters, history, and culture that make soccer more than just a game.

We write with passion, but also with honesty. Quail City Soccer isn’t about echoing press releases—it’s about telling the story of the club and the league from a supporter’s perspective, holding teams accountable, and celebrating the growth of the game in Sacramento.

How we got here.

2024

Founded

Founded in the middle of the USL Championship season following a conversation on social media between Ryan Hodek and Daniel Tyree about a need for more critical reporting on Republic FC.

2025

Rebranded & Expanded

Ahead of the 2025 season we rebranded and added an unironic Quail icon while simultaneously expanding our team and channels for deeper coverage.

2026

The Quail Call Podcast Debuts

Utilizing the off-season to expand from simply written and social media content, we launched The Quail Call Podcast and other video content across all platforms.
