Sacramento Republic FC announced today that the club has agreed to transfer forward Trevor Amann to USL Championship side FC Tulsa, pending league and federation approval. As is standard practice, the terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Amann departs Sacramento after a season and a half with the club, making 45 appearances and tallying 12 goals with two assists across all competitions. He originally joined Republic FC ahead of the 2024 season following a standout campaign with Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC, where he captured both the USL League One Golden Boot and Player of the Year honors.
“We’re grateful for Trevor’s contributions to the club and his superb attitude this season,” said Republic FC General Manager Todd Dunivant. “We wish him well as he takes another step in his career at the Championship level.”
While Amann delivered solid returns in his first season, his role in 2025 was far more limited. He made just six league appearances this year—all off the bench—and scored two goals, one of which came from the penalty spot. With the club recently signing Jamaican striker Khori Bennett, and ongoing efforts to reshape an underperforming front line, the writing was on the wall for a roster adjustment in the attacking department.
The move comes at a time when Republic FC is grappling with a season-long struggle to convert dominance into goals. Despite regularly controlling possession and generating chances, the club has lacked the finishing precision to put matches away—an issue that has led to frustrating draws and narrow losses throughout the campaign.
In that context, many fans had called for Amann to be given more opportunities this season. His poacher’s instincts and proven scoring track record made him a popular candidate among supporters to help address the team’s offensive inefficiencies. Instead, those chances never fully materialized.
Still, Amann leaves Sacramento with a respectable scoring record and the appreciation of a fan base that believed in his potential. His move to FC Tulsa provides a fresh opportunity for consistent minutes and a new environment in which to reestablish himself.
For Republic FC, the transfer clears room for potential midseason reinforcements and signals a continued reshaping of the attack—an essential step as the club looks to solidify its playoff position and mount a serious push down the stretch.
Completely unrelated to this post, but when are you going to have merch for sale? Love the logo and branding and would be happy to rep Quail City at the newly constructed Quailyards Stadium.
Good for Trevor. It seemed like both Amann and Phillips hit a wall last season, after really good starts. This season, inconsistent minutes never helped his situation. The arrival of Bennett sealed his fate. I think the glaring weakness in this roster is midfield. I think Ross and Felipe have dropped off quite a bit. It would be too harsh to say anything negative about RoRo. Blake Wiley has been a bright spot. A box to box engine is needed.
