Sacramento Republic FC began their pursuit of new silverware with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over AV Alta FC on Saturday night at Heart Health Park, opening group play in the inaugural interleague USL Jägermeister Cup on the right foot.
Good write-up! I had work on Saturday so couldn’t attend / watch live unfortunately, so it’s nice to see a review of the game. A couple questions as an AV Alta fan!
1. Relative to the USLC / USL1 gap, how do you feel like we did overall?
2. What was our best strength / the thing we did best?
3. What was our biggest weakness / the thing we did worst?

Yall have a fun style, I assume the team is heavily based on LAFC’s early approach (down to the 661 who were awesome all game). AV played great out of the back and nearly connected on passes over the top of a few chances. The midfield was the key for Sac, but Ibarra didn’t play for AV so that hurt.
I grew up going to Jethawks games as a kid, was awesome to see that the ghost of that club is a super fun and clearly well supported soccer team now.
Based on standings and what I saw up here Saturday, yall have a great club being built.
