Lewis Jamieson Departs Republic FC for Newport County
Sacramento Republic FC announced this morning that forward Lewis Jamieson has been transferred to Newport County of EFL League Two. As is standard club policy, the terms of the transfer were not disclosed.
Jamieson arrived in Sacramento ahead of the 2025 season, joining Republic FC from St. Mirren F.C. following a brief loan stint with Raith Rovers FC. The move marked his first experience playing professionally in the United States, adding another chapter to a career that has spanned multiple levels of the Scottish professional system.
During his lone season with Sacramento Republic FC, Jamieson made 25 appearances across all competitions, earning 13 starts. He finished the campaign with three goals and one assist, contributing primarily as a rotational attacking option. His minutes came in a variety of roles across the front line, providing tactical flexibility as the club managed injuries, fixture congestion, and squad rotation throughout the season.
Head Coach Neill Collins acknowledged Jamieson’s professionalism and effort during his time in Sacramento, emphasizing the consistency of his work rate whenever called upon. While his stay with the club lasted just one season, Jamieson remained a regular part of the matchday squad and a dependable depth option in Republic FC’s attacking group.
The transfer to Newport County represents a return to the UK and a new opportunity in the English Football League for Jamieson as he continues his professional career. Sacramento Republic FC thanked him for his contributions during the 2025 season and wished him success as he moves on to the next stage of his career.
